Sewing for my boys has become easier and easier over the years. When I first started this blog over 9 years ago there wasn't much to make for boys (at least in my mind) and that is why I started a free patterns page just for them. As years have passed I have realized that boys (at least mine) really only want a simple clothing things they can run and play in without worrying about how tight they are, or them falling off while running. So I now choose simple outlines and customize the fabric to fit their style.

One pattern that is used again and again by me is the Kid shorts pattern by Made Every Day. I have made SO many and can't count!
These are made in soft linen from JoAnne's fabric and I let my little guy choose what color and the color of the inside pockets, he chose frogs, lol! I made a smaller fit in the elastic than what his size called for but left the rest the same, he likes roomy for jumping and doing "tricks" and we are both quite happy with the fit! They stay on and are one of the few that do on this skinny boy of mine.
