Teachers are Heroes

I love all of my kids teachers. They work so hard and do a great job with all of my kids! In honor of them, and because my son Carter is having a bit of trouble with his addition and subtraction facts, I created
some flash cards for him to use on the teachers pay teachers website.
~Click on images to go to store~

250 × 120

I tried to buy some but no matter how many I tried they were all missing a few facts or didn't include similar ones (so it would have 3+4 but not 4+3) and Carter was really struggling with those. The other thing most were missing was facts up to 20. The flashcards I created are facts 1+1 to 20+20 I wanted to have a large range for practicing. He may not need all of these facts but I'd rather have them and be able to use them than not be able to.

I have the files on Teachers Pay Teachers and offer the flash cards 1+1 to 4+20 for free if you would like to try them out. Also today they are on sale for %20 off so you will be getting them all for around a $1.60! That is a great deal!! I have written in a few games and ideas that we use for my boys in the file as well.
Everything is on the site is on sale so go support a teacher, a hero and help your kids have fun learning too!

Striped Pajamas

While Parker was sick and crying and wanting to be held I decided I needed to make him some new pajamas. Did it make sense? No. I was crazy tired of doing nothing but holding a crying baby, even if he was cute, I needed a break from the monotony of it all and so I made him pajamas!

Parker's eyes always kill me they are quite expressive and so adorable! Oh and his cheeks! Why are baby cheeks so scrumptious?!You can't tell but he was running a fever and cranky. This was a good moment though and he was so happy to be on my bed! It made it all worth it :0)

I used this free legging pattern for the pants and a flashback skinny tee for the top. Although I really do love this pattern (its free) and it fits very similar to the flashback tee except the neck is different.

I should have stabilized the fish with some interfacing but I didn't so its a bit bumpy. I used orange thread and a tight zigzag to stitch it on, I think the orange really makes it pop out a bit more. I really love the way it all came together!

He's walking now! I can't believe it :( my baby is slowly growing into a toddler, whahaa!
I have to point out that the stripes in the crotch area are perfectly mis-matched it takes real talent to do that ;0)

One more of the boy in his new pajamas and oh how cute he is!
Its funny but when I post just pictures of just the clothes I make I get less views but when you put a baby in them, Bam! I get more views not a lot more but I still find it amusing! I guess everyone likes to see clothing on a baby than on my bed, lol!

Things on my mind

Parker is sick, so so sick, with a double ear infection and rsv. Since he is sick and my time is being spent holding, rocking and nursing him, while surfing the web, I have a few things I've come across you might like. If you follow my blog chances are you have boys and even if you have girls I think you'll enjoy these things!
~Click on images to go to links~
I laughed when I read this post it is so real! I have said or done everything on her list. Everything. Check it out if you have boys (or very active girls) its entertaining at the very least and truth telling at its best.

List of more than 20 early chapter book series about boys
I have three reading boys in my house now (I can't believe it!) so I am always looking for books about boys. Not that they don't like books about girls but they really enjoy ones about boys. I was pleased with this list its a pretty good list with books I definitely need to check out for them!

Does a distracted mom make an angry mom

I have found myself really struggling of late with being an "Angry mom" after reading this article I was able to see why I am feeling that way. I need to schedule my time and be a more present mom when my kids are home. Its a good read check it out!

I have been following the art of homemaking for years and truly enjoy her posts. They are real, yummy and thought provoking. The author also has three boys and I love that we have that bit in common!

I hope you enjoy these ideas/blogs/things as much as I have and we'll see you soon!

Shirt refashion

Last year when Parker was a month or two old I found a bunch of clothes on Amazon for really cheap like blue light special kind of cheap. So I bought a few outfits in a bigger size for the coming fall and winter.
I LOVED this shirt (sorry no before picture) but it had a hood and I did not like that and neither did Parker. I did what any crazy sewing mom would do, I cut off the hood and used it for sleeves.

No more hood see? Actually even if I couldn't sew I would have cut off the hood and then it have been a no sew project!

For the record there was barely enough fabric for the sleeves. I had to cut creatively and use seams in my seam for it to work.

Parker was NOT happy that day, the only day with light enough to take a picture, so you get a cranky baby picture with a diaper box and dirty laundry in the background. Don't you love my blog for keeping it real, haha ;0)

Valentines shirts

I had plans to make these stenciled and I still will its just not happening until next week unfortunately! I was burning the midnight oil to get these done but the boys were so excited to have a new shirt for the day that I am pleased even if it didn't go exactly like I wanted.

Three cheesy boys and three shirts. Parker is sleeping so he photos will come later ;0) They were so excited for the shirts but I made the mistake of putting their teacher gifts next to the shirts (so I wouldn't forget them) and they thought the gift was for them, haha! !They took the sad news great but were a bit disappointed. They will get theirs tomorrow so no worries!

Broc, oh Broc! He is entering that wonderful pre-teen stage where he fits in older sizes but still likes (and needs) the younger style. I made his shirt using my boys shirt tutorial it was much easier to trace last night than to print off a pattern. Plus everyone was a sleep, the printer was too close to the bedrooms, I did not want to wake anyone up! His shirt could be a bit smaller but he grows so fast and I think he'll need the growing room. Besides I don't think I pre-washed the fabric so it will shrink.

Carters shirt has a baseball tee hem (meaning its curved) you can't tell cause hes poking out his tummy, lol! I have a cute thing I am going to freezer stencil on this shirt but it will be next week. His shirt fits perfectly! I used the same tutorial as Brocs. I had barely enough to squeeze out his shirt and was concerned but it all turned out fine!

I was going to make Preston's but I found his online for $1 so I bought it instead however I will be adding some sleeves because my boys always complain about school being sold and we have a few cold months left.

As for Valentines gifts I bought some cute mini bags of popcorn, had the boys write their names on them and we were done! Already cute with adorable saying on them and it wasn't candy, perfect gift!

What did you have your kids bring for Valentines gifts? I am always looking for great easy ideas ;0)

I hope you all have a Happy Valentines!

V-Day shirt for Parker

I am planning on making (or semi making) shirts for the boys for Valentines Day. Parker gets the first one and I'll be sewing the other boys this week and most likely posting on Thursday or Friday. If procrastination were a name it would be my first name :0)

Parker is a moving grooving bundle of baby (hes still a baby ok?) and any and all pictures are blurry so we'll pretend that they are supposed to look like that! Really though hes only 13 months and that is still a baby, not a toddler, until 18 months, ok? OK.

He totally turned his back on me because he was mad about me trying (hopelessly) to get him to hold still, haha! This knit fabric is a dream! I bought it at Walmart for a $1 a yard on a whim thinking it would be awful or something. I should have bought more because its perfectly soft and stretchy without being too stretchy. Moral of the story good knit can come from anywhere!

There is really not much to say about the pattern it was the flashback skinny tee in the 12 month size and fits great! I cut this one out before Christmas and was worried it wouldn't fit but it all worked outdoes wonderfully!

All done layed out and pretty. In case you wanted a picture with no baby in it....who am I kidding, of course you want a baby in it!

The Charles Pants

In December Marte from Compagnie Patterns contacted me and asked if I would like to try one of her patterns in return for blogging about it. I was so excited by this request and after looking at her patterns I knew immediately I wanted to make the Charles pants!

  Charles pants, shorts and dungarees
The size range of this pattern is from 18 months to 10 years and since I have nothing but boys I knew this pattern would last a long time and be used a lot ;0) Plus the pattern can be regular pants and the cute shorts so it was given I would choose them!

These do not fit the traditional loose fit that I am used to they are a skinny fit and I really love the way they turned out! I thought Parker was bigger than he is so I made the 18 month size but they are actually quite a bit bigger than he needed (measure twice cut once people!) so they don't fit the way they are supposed to. Even so I am glad he has plenty of room to grow and they will last a bit longer.

You will want to be sure and follow the measurement chart for each size (especially in the hip area) and adjust accordingly if needed. I was going to give them to my nephew, since they were too big for Parker, but the bum area was too tight so I just shortened the straps and legs for Parker.

The instructions are good and the pictures clear so following instructions was easy! There are many steps which could overwhelm someone just starting to sew though. So you might want to have a pattern or two under your belt before trying them.

Parker is a crawling demon of late and getting any pictures was a real challenge! He gets into everything lately and its driving me nuts! Good thing he's cute right?

Oh and his feet his cute big/little feet are killing me!

This picture really isn't a great one but I love his little smile and teeth so its here anyways ;0)

Back to the pattern. I really do like this pattern a lot and the size range is great! Marte is doing a revamp on the bigger sizes right now and hopefully in a month those changes will be finished! After the revamp of the bigger sizes I want to make a pair for Preston cause every kindergartener needs some overalls, right? Besides then I won't see his little bum crack all the time...he cannot keep his pants up for the life of him! Boys.
