Summer Craftime

It has been 110 degrees here and its only going to get hotter, so I bought this magnet kit from Wal-Mart to help pass time indoors when its to hot to play outside.

It came with everything you need: 6 animal magnets, paint and a paint brush.

It says on the box for ages 5+ but my 4 and 2 year-old did fine and they really enjoyed painting with "real" paint.

I do suggest you use a large piece of paper or a plastic protective sheet under the work area.

Lots of fun for the kids and it made a great keepsake too!

I am not being paid for this endorsement,
I just thought it was fun and we all enjoyed it!

Sew Boy Saturday

For a special treat we took our oldest two boys to see Cars 2 last night, C could not stop saying how much he loved it! It was a little corny (in a similar way to Toy Story 2) but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The mother huddle has a great tutorial for making hanging fabric baskets! I really like them, a lot :o)

Summer skirt.

Another skirt for me!
It went much faster this time since I knew what I was doing.

I also lengthened it so I can wear it high-waisted
or at my hips.

I also upcycled this shirt, I cut off the sleeves and
used them to make ruffles for the neckline.

This time I didn't use a tutorial I just did my own thing.

Blogging Truths

Have you ever wondered why bloggers don't post new things everyday or how they manage to do anything with kids? Well this is how it usually works at my house:
Make them a perfectly nice play tent/clubhouse that takes a while to make (just so you can have time to yourself) and while playing they proceed to get Elmers glue and dump the WHOLE bottle on your royal blue carpet (that shows everything), use crayola washable markers to tattoo their bodies, eat peaches and yogurt spreading their love and food all over the place, all while you try to get something done and clean up said messes at the same time. Oh and they didn't even actually play in the tent you made them.
Good thing today is Friday and we get to have Daddy home tomorrow ;o)

Bracelets

On the last day of school B and I made two bracelets for his teacher, I had a necklace and earring set that we added to her gift as well, she seemed to really like them!
They were so easy and fast that I ended up making 4 in under an hour.
We used this tutorial.

Chubby Leg Jeans

Using Dana's diaper cover pattern and tutorial I made:
Chubby Leg Jeans
P really likes them and wants to wear them, not like regular shorts he hates, especially when it gets hot.

I love his diaper padded bum!
You can barely see it but I added pocket too.

I used the extra from my jeans I cut off here. The denim was worn and not very stiff so it worked perfect. I know my baby isn't really a baby anymore but his exposed legs make him seem just a bit younger than 2.

Sew Boy 18

I can't believe its been 18 weeks since I started Sew Boy! Who would have thought there was so much boy stuff?

At Second Street made this cute on the go book, I like it because it is small and therefore not as many pieces while traveling, at church or whatever!
(I know she made it for a girl but the idea is so gender neutral I included it anyways).

Jillyann Jiggs made some felt water gun holsters, so cute right? Go here for the tutorial.

Homemade by Jill made a car cozy and even has a tutorial, yay!

Cook Clean Craft has a tutorial for a baby Kimono, its so cute!

My growing home made super shirts for her "Super" boys!
Go here and she'll show you how too!

Anna from Noodle head shared this tutorial for a boys wallet on Celebrate the Boy, go here for the tutorial.

Have you heard that Dana and Rae are doing a summer quickie of Celebrate the boy? It starts on June 6th!

Summer Refashions

I had two pairs of pants that were too short so I cut them and hemmed them.

These ones were also too big at the waist and kept falling down, so I put some elastic in the waist (like here) and now they stay up much better. not perfect but I don't need a belt any more.
Link
I used a straight stitch instead of a zig-zag and stretched the elastic as I went.

Another shirt copied after my favorite one.
